Our verdict

Updated August 6, 2026

Across 1,600+ published reviews Trainual holds a 4.7 average, and the praise is consistent: it puts SOPs, policies, and training in one searchable place, new hires ramp faster, and the support team shows up. The criticism is just as consistent: it costs real money for small teams, search and organization strain as content grows, the mobile app lags the desktop, and there is no bulk export if you leave. Teams that invest setup time keep it; teams that wanted cheap document storage tend to regret the spend.

Look at me, I am creative- Trainual Centralizes Training, SOPs, and Policies in One Place

I'm new to Trainual, with 25 years in HR; this is the first time a platform can hold everything we do as leaders. Training, SOP, Policies. Where was training in the past 24 years of my life?? I can think back to my previous organization and how much time my organization and I could have saved by creating SOPs, Training, and policies. Dislikes: I'm still getting used to the GIFS and making them look good. I'm used to direct, clear SOPs, policies, and training without unnecessary fluff. I'm learning. I'm really digging deep for that creative side of me that I lost. HA!

Trainual Keeps Training Organized and Makes Onboarding Effortless

What I like most about Trainual is that it keeps all of our office processes, training materials, and SOPs in one well-organized place. It has made onboarding new employees much easier, and it helps ensure everyone is trained consistently. The progress tracking and quizzes also give us confidence that staff truly understand our workflows and expectations. Dislikes: The initial setup takes a lot of time, but once everything is built out, it's been well worth it for our team.

Trainual Elevates Training with Intuitive Flowcharts

I love how easy Trainual is to use, and I really love the flowchart feature—it's the best out there in my opinion. The private document management is really nice because it allows me to work on drafts for upcoming releases without doing everything the day of. I also keep my work private until I'm ready to release it to my team. Dislikes: I don't really like your search. I think the search oftentimes doesn't pick up literally the documents that have the exact same words in them. It has gotten better in the last couple months. Also, I don't personally use the AI tool. I'm gonna be honest.

Streamlines Onboarding with Centralized Training

I use Trainual to document company processes, onboard new employees, and provide consistent training and policies all in one centralized platform. I really like how easy it is to organize training materials and company processes in one place. The people section, where I can see the org chart and directory, is also a standout feature for me. Plus, the initial setup was pretty easy. Dislikes: I find the search functionality on Trainual could be better. It can be difficult to quickly find specific information or topics, especially as the content library grows. It would be helpful to have more advanced search filters, like filtering by department, role, tags, or content type.

Personalized Training Access with Easy On-Demand Refreshers

I like that I can personalize which employees have access to specific trainings, so not everyone has to complete the same ones. I also appreciate being able to go back and access past trainings whenever I want, which makes it easy to refresh my memory on the information. Dislikes: It isn’t always formatted well for use on my personal devices. Sometimes I’m away from my desk and want to finish a training on my phone, but the sizing and layout don’t always adjust properly. As a result, I sometimes can’t click the “next” button because it ends up out of frame.

Human Services Compliance and Training Review

I love that you can use any contect to create your trainings - such as youtube, other videos and text - but it all looks the same. I also LOVE the quiz feature. Dislikes: I would love more ways to download and show info on the completion of training for certain users - we are in a very strict compliance field with DDS and are not able to show completion by subject in a clean way. More report filters and formats.

Streamlined Training and Robust Support, Needs More Flexibility

I love how Trainual makes it easy to build training modules with text, video, and GIFs, and I can track completion effectively. The platform is simple and intuitive with its easy-to-use interface and great searchability. I also appreciate its reliable performance and responsive support. It allows employees to self-service, reducing the need to reach out to managers constantly. Dislikes: I think Trainual could be better with more customization and flexibility, particularly in formatting or editing options. I would like the ability to import PPT directly or have more expansive video upload options. Any non-linear workflows feel a bit boxed-in.

Streamlined Training with Room for Language Support

I really like that Trainual is easy to use and has a fun, interactive space. After surveying my team, they mentioned enjoying the interactive features like gifs and quizzes. They found these elements engaging and fun. It is a really useful tool for the team to be able to brush up on their knowledge about our systems and products, all in one central location. Dislikes: I'm generally struggling to get the kitchen on board with using Trainual. The bar and the front of house are not a problem, but the kitchen has been tough to engage. Another issue is that we're based in Spain.

Fast, Reliable, and Intuitive—Trainual Templates and AI Search Make Policy Building Easy

The product is easy to use in that creating a policies or process doesn’t take long and is somewhat intuitive. I like the templates in Trainual to get you started with ideas of how to lay out policies and procedures. The only integrations we use are Google and Gusto. We don’t use SLACK so I don’t get the benefit of that integration. Trainual’s speed and reliability are great. Dislikes: It’s very overwhelming when you have a lot of subjects. If you don’t start your Trainual organization correct from the start with groups, it’s difficult to sort through all of the subjects.

Intuitive UI for Videos and Screenshots with Smooth Performance

The UI is very intuitive and works very well in integrating videos, screenshots, and formatting. I rarely run into issues with loading times and find that the training courses can store a lot of information. Dislikes: Sometimes, the home page is difficult to navigate to find the courses that I need, so a redesign on the search and organization of those would be helpful.

Great Training Consolidation, But Content Organization Can Feel Overwhelming

Consolidation for training, one place to access everything. Dislikes: Would like to be able to group subjects under another high level folder.

All-In-One Platform with Creative Content Capabilities

I like having everything in one place on Trainual. The different preset options it provides to employees for creating their own content are great, and I enjoy a lot of the creative aspects. These features seem to enhance the standard material provided and make it more enjoyable. Dislikes: The site navigation at times gets a bit sticky. When you're going through the different material, you could be viewing a subject and then you'll want to go back, and it'll jump you all the way back to the home page.

Frequently asked questions

Is Trainual worth it?+

Across 1,600+ published reviews Trainual averages 4.7 out of 5 (4.7 on G2, 4.8 on Capterra). Reviewers who run onboarding-heavy teams call it worth the spend, citing ramp time cut sharply. The dissenters are mostly very small teams: several reviews call the cost hard to justify below roughly 10 employees, and one owner reported canceling after spending nearly $1,000 with little adoption. Worth it tracks closely with team size and how much repetitive training you actually do.

How much does Trainual cost?+

Trainual does not publish prices. All four training-suite tiers (Core, Pro, Premium, Enterprise) are quoted through a sales demo based on team size, the Operations suite is sold separately, and a one-time $1,000 implementation fee applies to new accounts. There is no free plan or self-serve trial; you can pause an account up to three months or cancel effective at the end of the billing cycle.

Is Trainual safe and legit?+

Yes. Trainual, Inc. is an established software company (Scottsdale, Arizona) reporting 10,000+ customer teams. It states it is SOC 2 Type 2 certified, encrypts data in transit and at rest, and supports SSO through Google, Okta, and Microsoft Entra. Its review profile is strong and verified across major platforms: 4.7 from 1,075 G2 reviews and 4.8 from 509 on Capterra.

What are the biggest complaints about Trainual?+

Four themes recur across platforms: pricing that feels high for small teams; search and content organization that strain as your library grows; a mobile app that trails the desktop version (formatting issues, missing features, buttons that misbehave on some phones); and no bulk export of your content if you leave, which one reviewer called out sharply after deciding to move off the platform.

Does Trainual have a free trial?+

Not a self-serve one. Trainual's own FAQ points prospective buyers to a demo call instead of a trial, and there is no free plan. If you want to evaluate it hands-on, ask for a guided walkthrough during the demo; several reviewers note the sales and implementation process as a strength, though one critical review warns the sales pitch oversold what the system delivered.
